My Story

Last year, I challenged myself to run the Great North Run for Cancer Research, after my mum was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2022, I found it extremely mentally & physically challenging- for a variety of reasons.

However these past few years have taught me Cancer can affect anyone & unfortunately, in September 2023 a very close family Friend of mine passed away from Pancreatic Cancer after being diagnosed in October 2022. So this year I am running the Great North Run in memory of Bob Duncan.

Bob was probably the single most inspirational and positive person I have ever known. He lived life to the full, always providing guidance and support to everyone he cared for. Bob was suddenly diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. He was determined to fight it and tried every possible treatment in the hope it would make a difference. But  he quickly realised this was not going away easily. Bob deteriorated rapidly but even with this happening, he smiled and tried to see the positive in everything.

I thought to myself 'What would Bob do?'. It  came to me that if Bob could give anything, it would be to prevent another person experiencing the pain and suffering that he went through himself. If running the Great North Run can raise vital money to find a cure or provide vital treatment, one day the rest of the world may avoid this cruel disease.

Please help me to raise money so that research can help more than one person avoid this terrible illness.
